50% Disabled Registration
All Veterans who are rated at 50% disabled or higher qualify for a reduced registration rate on two vehicles per year. You can also apply for a Disabled Veteran plates that take the place of the standard issue plate. They come with or without the handicap symbol for parking.
100% Disabled Sales Tax
All Veterans who are paid out at a rate of 100% are allowed a reduction in taxable price of $25,000 per year. Veterans can apply that credit to their vehicle sales tax. You would have to choose the amount you want to claim up to $25,000. You would pay tax on the difference.
100% Disabled Excise Tax
All Veterans who are paid out at a rate of 100% are allowed an excise tax exemption. This exemption is for the full excise tax amount. It is usable once every three years to the calendar day. The Veteran must be listed as owner of the vehicle on all tax exemptions to qualify.
100% Disabled Veterans also qualify for free Driver's Licenses
All Active Duty personnel along with National Guard and Reserves qualify for unlimited reduced rate registrations. A simple form is required. You would need to fill out the form and either have it signed by your commanding officer or attach a copy of your current orders. To qualify for the registration rate reduction, the service member has to be listed as an owner.
