Oklahoma Tag Agents can process Tribal Titles and Plates for only the Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Cherokee Nations

Chickasaw Tag Program

To purchase a Chickasaw Nation license plate, citizens will need to bring a Chickasaw citizenship card to the tag agency. The name on the citizenship card must match the name on the registered vehicle’s title.

Following the transaction, the Chickasaw Nation will issue a rebate for a percentage of the license plate fees and taxes. The Chickasaw Nation license plate rebate is a continual benefit that is applied at every renewal of registration or payment of excise tax.

Choctaw Tag Program

All Choctaw tribal members living in Oklahoma will be eligible to purchase the automobile tags starting Jan. 1, 2015.

Choctaws will be able to visit any tag agency and present their tribal membership card to purchase the tag. The fees and taxes will be the same as a non-Choctaw would pay. However, tribal citizens should expect to receive a 20 percent rebate for new tag licensing, registration, and payment of excise taxes.

Cherokee Tag Program

People of the Cherokee nation can now get their title processed through SOK and receive a Cherokee plate. The tribe member will need to be listed as a buyer on the title and provide their tribal number to get a Cherokee plate.

Following registration and titling a rebate will be issued. However, the specifics of the process are still unclear.
