We do not start any DL/ID Transactions after 4:15
Monday thru Friday and not after 11:30 on Saturdays.
Now Processing First Issuance
We can now process First Issuance DL/ID transactions. We can process a new Learner’s Permit if you are exempted from taking the written test and we can process Out of State Non-Commercial transfers if you have a current out of state license. We still cannot process a DL for anyone that is in the US temporarily and we cannot give any tests. Due to the lengthier nature of First Issuance, we do not process those on Saturdays.
There is a new format for all Oklahoma’s driver’s licenses. Driver’s license have two options non-compliant or compliant, which is sometimes called a Real ID. Both work as legal driver’s licenses. A compliant driver’s license means that you brought in documents to prove your identity to government standards. Some form of federally complaint ID will be necessary for domestic air travel starting May 2025. Compliant and non-compliant driver’s licenses cost the same. A Real ID renewal (when it is already a Real ID and expiring) does not require any documentation to process – just yourself and your driver’s license.
When do I need the Real ID?
A compliant ID will be required by May 2025 to travel domestically or to get into federal buildings and military bases. If you are using a non-compliant driver’s license after that date, you will have to have additional proof of identity such as a passport
What do I need to get the Real ID?
Follow the link for a checklist of all needed documentation. Copies of documents must be physical, unfortunately electronic copies do not work.
All names on accepted documents must match and it must be your legal first name legal last name and any legal suffixes.
You are not required to switch from a drivers license to a Real ID. Oklahoma Driver’s License can be renewed up to eleven months early. Four or eight years will be added to the expiration date regardless of when you renew it. The cost for a four year renewal is $38.50. An eight year is $77. All licenses are free for those over 65.
Replacements
For a replacement drivers license all that is needed is an old license. If the old license is lost only one additional form needs to be filled out at the tag agency.
Updates
For change of address no proof is required as long as you are not switching from non-compliant to compliant. For name change, documentation is required. We need the marriage license, divorce decree, or separate court certified name change document. Divorce decrees must state you are resuming your desired name.
Out of State
We can now process out of state DL transfers if you have a current out of state Non-Commercial DL and a birth certificate. An out of state license that has is less than 6 months expired can be used as well. If you are wanting your new Oklahoma DL to be federally compliant then you will want to bring all of the Real ID documents. If you have a Commercial Out of State DL, you will have to go to a Service Oklahoma location direct. Out of state licenses tend to take longer than standard licenses up to 35 minutes. Please note that we do not process these transactions on Saturdays.
First License
Any resident of Oklahoma getting their Learner’s Permit, we can now process your transaction so long as they are EXEMPTED from the written test. To be exempt from the written text they need to have completed a qualifying drivers education course. If the resident is under 18 guardian approval is either needed beforehand or they need to be present as well. For help passing the test we sell driver’s manuals for $9.50. We do not process the written or driving test. Please note that we do not process these transactions on Saturdays.
Oklahoma Work Zone Safe Course
Starting November 1, 2023 all residents younger than 18 years old now need to complete a supplemental safety course before completing their first license. The course is free and accessed online for completion with it taking an average of 45 – 60 minutes to finish. Once the course is completed you need to obtain the certificate for us to scan in at the office. This can be scanned in during the permit processing or the intermediate licensing AT THE LATEST. Failure to complete the course means that the intermediate license can not be processed.
License Tracking
Licenses done in person – not online – can now be checked through the Service Oklahoma website. The website does not show the mailing status or delivery updates. It shows if the license or ID has been returned in the mail to a Service Oklahoma location. The tracker does not show the mailing status or delivery tracking of your credential – only if it has been returned as undeliverable to Service Oklahoma. Please keep in mind that licenses take up to 30 days to deliver.
If you have a green card you will have to bring it for us to scan every time you do any driver's license transaction.
Renewal Notice
An e-mail renewal notice will be sent to your e-mail address 45 days prior to the expiration of your driver license or ID card.
Driving Record
Driving records are now processed online through the Service Oklahoma website. They are not available in person through our tag agency. The fee for a single record is $25 and a PDF copy will be made available to you immediately.
Parking Permit
You can renew a parking permit either online or through this form. If you do it through a form you need to have your physician fill out part of it.
Veteran Logo
The logo will allow Oklahoma veterans to identify themselves by choosing to have the insignia printed. Proof of veteran status must be provided.

This program allows someone with a suspended or revoked driver’s license to drive between their home and their place of employment.

An individual’s driver license can be suspended, revoked, cancelled, denied or disqualified for a multitude of reasons under Oklahoma law.
