What do I need to renew my registration?
To renew your license plate and registration, we will need a copy of your insurance (if you have a digital copy we will have you email it to broadwaytag@outlook.com) and an ID or Driver’s License. Only the registered owner is allowed to renew.
Can I renew early?
We can process a renewal up to one month early. This will not change your due date. One or two years, depending on what registration length you go with, will be added to the current expiration.
Do I have to renew if the vehicle isn't running?
Oklahoma law requires that all vehicles are renewed every year or penalty will be assessed. There is an option to black tag the vehicle. When you black tag you are still paying the same registration fee, the money saved is on insurance.
What do I need to carry in the car?
As of July 2019 Oklahoma law changed and a copy of your current registration is now required to be kept in your car. The format for registrations has been altered. There are two on the page. One without an address for you to keep in the vehicle.
How do I get a copy of my registration?
A copy of your registration will be given to you at the time of renewal. If you have lost it, you can come in to request a replacement. There is a form you fill out and the cost associated with that is $3. You can also do it online through SOK at this webpage.
Are electric vehicles priced differently?
Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles have an extra registration cost associated with them based on the weight of the vehicle. So you will pay the normal registration and the electric/plug-in hybrid registration annually. This price breakdown can be found on our registration page under “Hybrid or Electric”.
What do I do if I have lost my sticker or my plate?
You would need to bring in insurance on the vehicle that needs the replacement. The registered owner is the only one who can request the replacement. There is a form to fill out and the cost associated with either sticker or plate is $13.50
How do I update my address to receive my renewal notices?
You can now update the address associated with your vehicle on your own.You will need the VIN or HIN number, the address, and the license plate or OK numbers. You will go to this webpage and type in the information for each vehicle you wish to change the address on.
When do I need a commercial plate?
There are several circumstances that you would need to have a vehicle commercially plated. The best way to know is to check with DOT. If you are commercially plating a vehicle, we would need to know the weight registered.
How do I get a specialty plate?
For OU, OSU, In God, Bison, Monarch, and Thunder we have those in stock. For any other pre-numbered specialty plate we can order them for you. For personalized plates of any style you have to apply through the mail or the state website.
How does a specialty plate work?
You can buy specialty plates to replace your standard blue license plate. There is an extra annual registration fee for the specialty plate between $15-35 on top of the vehicle’s standard registration costs. The specialty plate registration cost does not replace your standard registration cost – you will pay both.
What if I currently have a specialty plate and a normal plate?
If you have previously bought a specialty plate and still have a standard tag the next time you come in to register you will have to consolidate and pick one of the license plates to display.
